Valerie Parker was born and raised in Detroit City, graduating from Central High School in 1978. Valerie Parker has a master's degree in African American Studies and a master's degree in Sociology: School, Society & Violence from Eastern Michigan University. Valerie has been fighting for the youth in Detroit since 2005 with the assistance of the Honorable Congressman John Conyers Jr., Kwame Kilpatrick, and ex-Mayor Bing. Valerie Parker is a precinct delegate of her community and a member of The River, where Bishop Ried is the pastor and her spiritual leader.

Valerie Parker is an FBA Conyers Girl who is an Urban Educator and loves her people. Valerie has collected years of data from many schools inside Detroit city, which differs from the Detroit metro schools. Valerie is running for the seat because the youths asked her to help them. Valerie has observed the independent public school system failing our urban youth for years. Due to me being a Conservative, the current seat holders refused to help them, via of me allowing their civil rights to be violated. I WILL.

It is time for a change. As an African American I am sitting at the table. They need US. Our ancestors fought for us. Our turn. The career politician gatekeepers time is up.

Valerie has experienced the trauma of having her vehicle stolen and being treated like a criminal at Detroit Police Impound. Victims should not be treated with disrespect. I will review Detroit Auto-Pound policies

The current City Council At-Large seat holders are not sharing the services offered to Detroit's citizens. Citizens have the right to know. I will hold monthly resource meetings in the communities.

Women wanting to start a business in Detroit should be aware of the PAY to PLAY program, and the City Council should offer resources to protect them. I will create a hotline for women needing assistance with licensing and permits.

The Wayne County Property Tax forfeit fee is causing homeowners more financial hardship. The fee, along with the interest fee, should be removed when an individual signs up for the payment plan.

Michigan body insurance should be re-evaluated due to the insurance increase caused by the lapse definition. The force of insurance is causing high rate increases for Detroit City drivers.
